In this experiment, tannic acid was selected as converter, coke garlic acid was selected as convert enhancer, and in coordination with the film-forming additives polymers as the main raw material, a kind of water-soluble paint with rust was prepared. Orthogonal test was proceed to determine the optimal formulation of the paint with rust. The test of produce’s surface tension, density, viscosity and pH value was also engaged. Electrochemical workstation, adhesion tester, electron scanning microscopy, neutral salt spray testing were proceed to examine the performance of the rust-resistant coating film formed after the construction, the formation and anti-corrosion mechanism of the film were also discussed in this paper.The optimal formula of paint with rust was determined by orthogonal test:the dosage of distilled water is 9%, film-forming agent is 2.5%, conversion agent is 2.5%, transformation promoter is 1.5%, polymer is 65%. Adhesion test’s result shows that the adhesion of paint films was first-class level. The surface tension of rust coating is 33.88mN/m tested by the pull method, less than the surface tension of water, proved that the film has a good spread on the metal surface. When the mass fraction of thickener is 14% and rust coating viscosity is 10.8mPa-s, the ratio of fallen paint reach the minimum, and the adhesion ability is strongest.Corrosion of Neutral salt spray test shows that the best film-forming reaction time is 60min after finalized with rust coating, best film-forming temperature is 20℃, optimum film thickness is 30 μ m. Circuit potential-time curve and Tafel polarization curve identified the optimum thickness of rust coating layer is 30μm, which were tested by electrochemical workstation. It has better anti-corrosion performance with rusty metal and the materials which was rusted not seriously. In addition, the paint with rust can be soaked in 3% mass fraction of sodium chloride solution for 48h, in 5% mass fraction of sodium chloride solution of neutral salt spray testing, it can maintain performance for four weeks without returning to the rust.The result of the high impedance meter test shows that surface of rust coating metal has non-conductive of electricity, the reason is the film has well compactness, which isolated ions in the solution from socked into the metal surface. The anti-corrosion performance is better at the temperatures below 250℃. Outdoor weathering experiments show the durable of the product period can be as long as one year. Compared with paint rust commercially available in market, the product has stronger resistance, matches better with surface paint; has better performance by used in coordination with homemade anti-rust reagent.
