Series design is one of the important trends of modern product design. As an international design ideological trend, it has been widely recognized and applied in today’s design world. Modern ladies’ wear is an important market category in China’s brand segmentation of women’s clothing. In China, series design of modern ladies’ wear has been developing rapidly over the last decades, but comparing with excellent foreign brands, there are still great space for improvement.This research uses personal interview and questionnaire methods with domestic senior designer, to understand the current collection design of modern ladies’ wear. Then combined with the actual cases to analyze the content and form of modern ladies’ wear series, and summarized its expression content to five aspects: design inspiration, brand style, brand concept, market feedback and popular trend, and explains the expression form from the aspects of color, material, pattern, silhouette, interior structure and accessory. This paper studies on the relationship between the combination of design elements and collection layering, on this basis, combining with related data, survey results and the author’s 3 years working experience in modern ladies’ wear brand as designer, the paper presents the series design framework of modern ladies’ wear. And then analyzes the problem of sales-oriented modern ladies’ wear’s collection, put forward the optimization strategies, in order to establish a preliminary theory for series design of modern ladies’ wear, improve the rationality of design, and help sales-oriented modern ladies’ wear brand to express content more reasonable on the basis of commercial design.
