Glass is a kind of ancient building materials. In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, a variety of glass with unique functions appears, flourishing the glass family. Coated glass, also known as reflective glass, are plated one layer or more layers film on the surface of glass using metals, metal alloys or compound, to change the optical properties of glass. Moreover, according to the different demands, choosing different coating materials, they can show different colors, also change the transmittance of visible light, and improve the ultraviolet absorptivity and infrared reflectivity. There are many methods to produce coated glass, including vacuum magnetron sputtering method, vacuum evaporation method, chemical vapor deposition method, and Sol-Gel method. As one of the most used methods, the vacuum magnetron sputtering method can design and manufacture multilayer complex film system, and also can plate a variety of colors in white glass substrate, which is of good corrosion resistance and wear resistance.In this paper, first of all, aiming at the process characteristics of glass coating production line, and according to the needs of the domestic production of a glass coating production line, the original automatic control system has been improved and optimized. Second, based on the control difficulties and implementation process with the gas distributing, magnetron sputtering, vacuum pumping, cathode power supply and servo drives, and other subsystems, the upper glass coating control systems are optimized and designed using the Siemens S7-400PLC for core and WinCC 7.0 for monitoring software. Finally, based on the WinCC configuration software platform, a monitoring interface of glass coating control system has been built. Through the data processing of a PC and archiving of mass production processes of the important parameters, the functions have been realized, such as the real-time monitoring of all aspects for the production process, the parameters display of the working status for the device, system operation fault alarm, and so on.This paper has improved the original control system, reduced the pumping time, improved the production efficiency and reliability, and reduced the production cost. This system has been put into production, of the control effect well, which has completed the system design objectives. It is great significance to realize energy conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development.
