Solution polymerized Styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) has been paid more and more attentions in tire tread owing to its advantages on improving wet-skid resistance as well as a lower rolling resistance. Considering the unique structure and dynamic properties, we desire to incorporate the IIR into tire tread to optimize the above two aspects, and thus enhanced tire tread properties. Interaction between IIR and filler is needed to explore in depth, experiments have been carried out to investigate the filler dispersion in the rubber mix, which is filled with CB (N234) and silica (N), and the interaction and the possibilities to replace the SSBR with equivalent IIR to strengthen the tread properties. Besides, Si-69 is added to boost the interaction between silica and IIR. Moreover, BIIR and SSBR/IIR filled with N234 work as a parallel with a goal of illustrating the effect of rubber polar on the interaction between IIR and filler. Results showed that the dispersion of CB in IIR is worse than that in SSBR, and thus a stronger filler-filler interaction in IIR while CB exhibits a better interact with rubber in SSBR compound. Tensile strength of SSBR vulcanizates is increased in proportion of CB, whereas the value of IIR vulcanizates gets to a maximum when CB filled at 30phr under the same cure system; tear strength of IIR vulcanizates far overweight SSBR vulcanizates with a high loading of CB. Dynamic analysis appoints that IIR can’t totally replace SSBR but can improve winter or racing tire grip.Payne Effect of IIR filled with 60phr silica is obviously higher than that in SSBR, which account for worse dispersion of silica in IIR. We can tell from G’and tanδ that silica has a better interaction with SSBR and weak filler-filler interaction in it. Decreased Payne Effect and better silica dispersion in IIR can be observed with the adding of Si-69.Strain sweep is performed with RPA and the data tells that filler network in IIR is more serious when filled with CB than silica, details are that filler network occurs at the loading of 30phr CB and 45phr silica, respectively. Dynamic properties show that the combination of enhanced wet-skid resistance/lowered rolling resistance and better mechanical properties can be achieved for IIR filled with silica and CB, respectively.Effect in BIIR filled with CB is better than in SSBR/CB and in IIR/CB, and bond rubber content of BIIR/CB is also higher than the two others, which attributed to the decreased filler-filler interaction and improved filler-rubber interaction. Mechanical properties of BUR get a dominant improvement, tensile and tear strength get to a maximum at a loading of 30phr CB, whose maximum value is bigger than the two others under the same cure system as a result of polar of IIR.
