This paper was aimed at solving the big gap problem of reliability between domestic precision ball screw and similar foreign high-end product with the background of national science and technology project "Common technology research and development of rolling functional components for high-grade machine tool". At first, a set of test software and reliability test plan was developed, and also the data evaluation method based on the self-developed precision ball screw reliability test device was studied. Then, the ball screw reliability distribution model was set up, which provided test specification and theoretical basis for the domestic ball screw theoretical research.Thirdly, the need for four kinds of reliability research test was summarized. And also introduced the basic working principle and composition of hardware system of ball screw reliability test device, so as to provide a reference for the design of test scheme then introduced the major technical parameters which the device can measure.This paper also designed the structure and main modules of the device’s software and cleared test rig measurement and control software’s specific function, designed detailed program flow chart and software interface.Then, the experiment scheme was designed. The basic method and process of reliability test and fault judgments was summed up. The basis and test scheme of reliability was presented in detail. The ball screw reliability growth scheme was designed, which selected Duane model as the growth model, and also presented a method for determining the model parameter and tracking process, cleared the end of the test and fault judgment.This paper made a comparative analysis of loading models and abrasion of ball screw on the basis of three different test unit which provided different loading method, And also given the pre-processing ways for recorded screw failure information and selected three parameter Weibull distribution model to evaluate the reliability index, using the theory of grey model combined with maximum likelihood estimation to calculate the parameters of the model, so as to determine the ball screw reliability distribution model.At last, this paper made analysis of the screw main failure mode and its effects, put forward the measures to improve the reliability. Analyzed the possibilities of using SNC technology to improve the reliability of screw, and put forward the specific research ideas.
