Using fancy yarn can effectively solve the problems of easily producing strips, spots andother defects. Also it makes a better fabric appearance with a stereoscopic appearance and uniquestyle, so as to satisfy modern people’s demands of pursuing beauty and personalized life.Composite fancy yarn is a product composed of various materials, colors and structures. Moreover,as an improvement of the tradition kind, composite fancy yarn, which belongs to a upper classfield, is now the trend leader of fancy yarn. However, composite fancy yarn has relatively highrequirements for equipment with high performance and powerful function. INNOVA fancytwisting machine is a kind of fancy yarn production equipment imported from Italy withleading-edge technology. This paper mainly focuses on the design of knot and big-belly compositefancy yarn on the INNOVAmachine.Firstly, mechanism and features of INNOVA machine will be discussed. And analysis on thespinning principle and production process will be given. With multi-functional high performance,INNOVA can effectively motivate the innovation of yarn in a technical way. Using the MFmodule and the MS1module of the spinning a design of knot and big-belly composite fancy yarnwill be given.Secondly, based on the function of INNOVA machine, the design of knot and big-bellycomposite fancy yarn together with its structure details, color collocation and the selection ofmaterials will be elaborated. The method of knot yarn outsourcing big belly yarn is applied instructural consideration. Colors of red and white are selected basic color for its simplicity andvivid style. Various kinds of materials are selected to meet the requirements of the strength andcomfort of the yarn that produced. On the INNOVA machine, knot and big-belly composite fancyyarn is produced in three steps, which is, firstly produce knot yarn and then outsource big-bellyyarn on it.Thirdly, single-factor tests are made to verify the effect of three primary parameters of theknot yarn pattern, length of yarn of knot, overfeed ratio and hollow ingot parameter, and threeprimary parameters of the big-belly yarn pattern, hollow ingot parameter, overfeed ratio anddrafting multiple, on the appearance and structural stability of knot yarn pattern and big-belly yarnpattern. Based on this, recommended values of these parameters will be given.Fourthly, using optimum design method, a optimization of production process is set tonarrow the range of spinning parameters. Processes of producing knot pattern and big-bellypattern will all be optimized for further optimization of knot and big-belly composite fancy yarn producing process. With knot yarn length of40mm, overfeed ratio of1.3or1.5and hollow ingotparameter of5.00or6.00, most qualify appearance and structure of big-belly yarn pattern areobtained.Finally based on the optimized parameters, a spinning experience is carried out. Both wovensample and knitted sample are made using knot and big-belly composite fancy yarn to analyzetheir quality of style and performance. The sample using knot and big-belly composite fancy yarnis found to have stable structure, vivid color, rough style, fluffily feeling and stereoscopicappearance. The advantage of knot and big-belly composite fancy yarn is fully showed by thesample.Knot and big-belly composite fancy yarn that innovated in this paper is mainly used inproducing fabrics for popular autumn and winter fashion. The prominent knots of knot yarntogether with the uneven shape of big-belly yarn and their vivid color can provide fabrics withunique style and stereoscopic and colorful appearance which meets the needs of an elegant, soft,rich, stereoscopic and natural fashion.
