Abstract/Summary:
Land is a carrier for economic activities to carry on, and manifests its importance increasingly for humans with the development of economy and society. Given the scarcity of land resources, improving the degree of land intensive use will be an important and effective way to promote a sound and fast economic development. How much the land can be intensive used will vary from regions to regions with the difference of geographic position and natural conditions. Generally speaking, the more developed the economy, especially in industrial and service industry, the more intensive the land will get used. In fact, the level of land intensive use does not coincide with the spatial distribution of GDP in second and tertiary industry. In other words, even in a region with high GDP in second and tertiary industry, its degree of land intensive use is not always high. This essay, using theory of industrial distribution, returns to land scale theory and economic development theory, an evaluation index system for intensive utilization of land is established. An evaluation is made on the degree of land intensive use in12prefecture cities in Gansu Province. And also, an analysis is carried out on the characteristic of the difference of the degree of land intensive use in different zones and that of the spatial difference of GDP in second and tertiary industry. Finally, this essay using Pearson model discusses the variation of influence of GDP of the second and tertiary industry on land intensive use in Gansu’s four zones, analyzes the causes of such difference and put forward pertinent advices to promote Gansu’s second and tertiary industry and to improve the degree of land intensive use. This essay concludes:1)The condition of land intensive use and Secondary and tertiary industry development in Gansu Province is improving year by year in an overall way, but its overall level remains low. There is distinct regional difference when it comes to the degree of land intensive use and GDP of the second and tertiary industry in different regions of Gansu, with obvious spatial polarization The overall performance of the degree of land intensive use goes with a feature:middle Gansu> Hexi Region> eastern Gansu>southern Gansu; and the overall character of the secondary and tertiary GDP goes:middle Gansu>Hexi Region>eastern Gansu>Southern Gansu. 2) The distinct difference of land intensive use and that of spatial distribution of the secondary and tertiary industry GDP includes two situations:the degree of land intensive use and secondary and tertiary industry GDP of the same level go the same in the same region, and go the contrary in the same region in another situation.3) Pearson correlation analysis on the secondary and tertiary industry GDP and the degree of land intensive use in these four zones proves that there exists positive correlation between the two items, which a conclusion can therefore be made that the improvement of the secondary and tertiary industry GDP can promote the degree of land intensive use.4) To promote coordinated development between the degree of land intensive use and the secondary and tertiary industry, measures should be made adjusting to local conditions, with rational land utilization plan. Transform economic development mode, optimize urban land-use structure and enhance moderately the investment on land resource.
