Livestock and grassland is the most important factor of husbandry production, in this thesis the author takes The Honger Village, Eji Nur town, East Ujimchin banner as the investigation spots, studies the influence of "grassland and livestock double contract" policy that began in1983on the Pastoral areas. On the basis of historical data and field survey combined with previous studies, the author takes thirty families as example, studies on the process of settling in thirty years. On factors such as population, infrastructure, five livestock structure has carried on the questionnaire analysis, by dividing into two stages.This thesis is composed of preface,(first chapter, second chapter, third chapter), conclusion.In the preface, the author puts forward the study question and explains the situation of research, general situation of investigation spots, research methods and field survey process. In the first chapter, it elaborates the implementation of the "grassland and livestock double contract" Policy, in Honger Village,1983, and analyses the change process of herdsmen from nomadic to settle, in Honger Village. In the second chapter, it discusses the Honger Village second grassland contracting situation and the current situation of grassland utilization. In the third chapter, the author analyses the effect of " grassland and livestock double contract" policy on pastoral areas, through four aspects as livestock production and life, folk culture, interpersonal relationships and the ecological environment. In the conclusion, it summarizes the positive role and negative impact of the "grassland and livestock double contract" policy on pastoral areas.
