S company is a leading company in semiconductor manufacture area. The product produced in S company have the following characteristics, unit is very small, expensive and the processing throughput time is shorter by shorter and processing volume is also very high. This paper mainly analyzes how to reduce its semi-finished/finished goods inventory level to its reasonable level for cost saving and good customer responsiveness.This paper will figure out what the current inventory level is in semi-conductor enterprise and find out the whole line bottleneck workstations. After find out the bottleneck station, then work out the methods how to set the whole line WIP inventory level. How to set the whole line target WIP level? How to set the whole line critical WIP level? After the target WIP level is defined, then kit out the raw material from front of the line considering workstation minimal inventory target. Every workstation has its inventory control target will help employees to control inventory level more specifically. CONWIP (Constant Work_In_Process) concept will come out the upper limit and lower limit of WIP for all workstations based on historical data. For end of line kitting, use DOI(day of inventory) to measure every SKU’s priority. End of line kitting will read the priority vs SKU setting target and kit out semi-finished good strictly follow system priority.
