A Systematic Study On Tourism Of Northern Historical Town

Historical towns puts the historical relics or customs as the main tourism resources, whichhave ancient buildings and blocks, rich custom, national and local characteristics, or memorableand research significance. There are three types of historical towns basing on the differenthistory and tourism development, which are northern, southern and Tibet-Qinghai historicaltowns. The paper conductes a systematic study on the doctrine and practice of the historical town;emphasizes systematic analysis, systematic evaluation of the northern historical towns; putsforward thinking and countermeasures for Qidu town’s sustainable tourism development;provides guidance for the northern historical towns tourism development.The paper defines the development of historical town, which includes cultural relics,architecture, urban environment, local residents, spatial arrangement, behavior, and heritage.Then the paper analyzes the tourism status of southern and northern historical towns from thepoint of tourism development features and tourism economy. It can be concluded that it isnecessary to explore a tourism development model for the northern historical towns.Systematic methodology has to be utilized to analyze the tourism development of northernhistorical town. The tourism development system consists of four subsystems: industry economy,natural resources and environment, social life, history and culture, which are independent andinterlinked. By using Entropy Method and Comprehensive Evaluation, the paper constructes anevaluation system of tourism development of northern historical town, which covers30assessment factors and a four-lever hierarchy including goal, criteria, subcriteria and alternatives.Taking the town of Qidu, Zibo as an example to analyze, it can be concluded that thecomprehensive evaluation index of the town’s historical tourism has been through a continuousincreasing during the period of seven years from2004to2010. The statistic indicates that theframework of the town’s sustainable development has been basically structured, bringing aboutindustrial economic benefit and taking on the coordinated development in terms ofsocial-cultural benefits as well as resources and environment benefits. In the end, basing on thetheory and the results of the systematical analysis, this paper puts on a guideline that Qidu town’s sustainable development ought to adhere to. The guideline is “resources protection, policyguidance, multi-party participation and balanced development.” The guide means that by takingthe sustainable concept and systematic theory as guidance, implementing protective historicalresources development, playing the role of the government, mobilizing the enthusiasm oftourism shakers, such as the government, enterprises, industry association, can the tourismdevelopment of Qidu town achieve balanced benefit and overall optimization among economy,society and environment.
