Japan is China’s first large vegetable export market. However, with green consumption concept and awareness increased, the domestic consumers have required higher green quality of vegetables. In response to domestic consumers’demand, the Japanese government continuously implements green barriers on our country’s vegetables, which have made our vegetable export enterprises and farmers suffer huge losses. If we can not correctly handle the vegetables trade issues between China and Japan, it will spread to other products, and even lead to emulate other countries. In this way, it will be enormous threat to China’s vegetable industry. Since the2008financial crisis, the global economy include Japanese domestic economy comes into a continuous downturn. Moreover, the post-crisis era also slows the momentum of economic recovery, which presents a greater challenge to the Sino-Japanese vegetable trade. In addition, because the territorial dispute and many unpleasantnesses between Japan and China, the prospect and situation of the Sino-Japanese vegetables trade is really not optimistic. Therefore we must be well-prepared for the Japan’s green barriers, which will probably be Japan’s government political vent tool to us, in case that our vegetable exports and export enterprises are in trouble. The article qualitative and quantitative studied the influencing effect of green barriers on China’s vegetable exports to Japan and analyzed the specific reasons. And then put forward feasible countermeasures for vegetable export enterprises and hope to maintain the steady growth of exports of vegetables and the healthy development of vegetable industry.The article is divided into five parts. The first part is an introduction, and mainly introduces the research background and significance, research status at home and abroad to study the ideas and methods as well as the main innovations. The second part is an overview of theories on the green barriers, including theoretical origin of the green barriers, concept and features, the main form of expression as well as influencing effect. The third and the fourth part is the focus of this article, Firstly, qualitative and quantitative analyze the effect of Japan green barriers on our vegetable exports to Japan, including vegetable’s export amounts, export market, the direction of export products, export costs and prices, etc. And then make quantitative analysis using SPSS and the gravity model as a further complement. Finally discuss the causes of the problem from the aspects of Japan and our own. The fifth part embarks for actual situation of China vegetable exports and puts forward some feasible suggestions from two perspective of government and enterprises to cope with green barrier of vegetable exports.
