It is a key component of business management to effectively manage supply chain of enterprises. Lean and globalization are the two trends of supply chain management that drive firms move ahead faster than ever and generate plentiful wealth.However,"9.11terrorist attack" reminded the people of the existence of another unpleasant thing-Supply Chain Risk! Since then, people pay increasingly attention on supply chain risk. How to manage supply chain risk becomes a hot topic among scholars and managers. Through literatures study, the writer of this paper realized that there are many papers in supply chain risk management. However, to the author’s knowledge, there is few literature study supply chain risk management as a whole system. Supply chain risk management solution should be drawn and executed by a cross-function team with the solid support from the leadership team. Also there is no universal solution that works well under any circumstance for any company. Manager have to be aware of the differences of every company and take appropriate countermeasures in a systematically way.The paper is organized in six chapters as following.Chapter I:The introduction of the paper. In this section, the author briefly introduced the background of this paper and indicated the significance of the research. Another part of this section is a literature review of the studying and research done by other scholars.Chapter II:The nomenclature and classification of supply chain risk. It is necessary and important to deeply understand the concepts of risk, supply chain risk prior to take countermeasures to supply chain risk. In this chapter, the author defined supply chain risk and supply chain risk management.Chapter III:Countermeasures to supply chain risk. Countermeasures are the weapons that managers can rely on to kill supply chain risks. Basically, risk countermeasures are classified into two groups:one is the countermeasures to decrease the probability of supply chain risk and the other one is the measures to reduce the negative impact of supply chain risk in case it occurs.Chapter Ⅳ:An effective method of risk assessment-risk matrix. To properly prioritize risks is crucial for the successful planning of supply chain risk management. The importance is obviously-there always be a resource constraint when managers implement risk management solution. Risk matrix is a very good method to evaluate the identified risks and sort risk in the severity-wise.Chapter Ⅴ:Practice of supply chain management-Case Study. To implement the aforementioned disciplines, the author demonstrated the entire process of supply chain risk management with a real scenario, from risk identification, assessment to drafting an action plan. This section is also the integration of the previous chapters.Chapter Ⅵ:A summary of the paper. Section Ⅰ, a conclusion of this paper is set out. In Section Ⅱ, the author outlined the constraints of this research and what needs to be improved. In the end, some suggestions to the future research were given.
