Influence Of Carbon Tariffs On China's Export Trade

In June,2009, the U.S. House of Representative carried a bill named American clean energy and Security Act at the background of the Sub-prime Crisis and the global climate deterioration. The Bill suggested that the U.S. government should impose carbon tariff on the products which importing high energy consumption since2020. According to the present economic development pattern, if the European and American countries implement carbon tariff policy around the2020year, it probably has serious influence on China’s export trade. After referring to some literature, this paper analyses the effects of carbon tariff imposing on export trade qualitatively and quantitatively.This paper can be divided into six parts. The first part is introduction. It mainly makes a recapitulative description of the background information、the meaning of this paper and a summary of the present research at home and abroad. The second part is the basis of carbon tariff and its collection way. The basis of carbon tariff includes theoretical basis and practical basis. And its collection way mainly introduces its collection mode and collection standard. The third part is the relationship analysis between the export trade and carbon emissions. With the status quo of the export trade and carbon emissions, this paper lucubrate their relationship quantitatively. The conclusion is the rapid development of export trade could increase carbon emissions to some extent. The fourth part is the mechanism of action and effect analysis of carbon tariff affecting our export trade. I adopt micro-economic method to explore the impacts of carbon tariff, both in the short term and in the long run. The fifth part is the empirical analysis of carbon tariff affecting our export trade. To analyze the influence of different carbon tariff on our country’s export demand of export trade products, I select20kinds of produces from the export trade products, and then go into empirical research on them. The sixth part is suggestions to deal with carbon tariff.
