| We live in the age of information and knowledge based economy, the enterprises arefacing more fierce competition than ever. The innovation capability of the company hasbecome more and more important,some companies are developing their core competitiveadvantages by continuously focusing on innovation capability development. The compe-tency of Research and Development employee determine the new product innovation, theperformance of the company and even the survival of the company. China is graduallyshifting the economy development strategy from “Made in China†to “Innovate in Chinaâ€.On one hand, the demand of Research and Development (R&D) talents in Company Bhas significantly increased. However, the high turnover rate has become one of the prob-lems which constrained the company’s further growth in China. One of the key reasons isthat the company is lack of an integrated career management and employee developmentsystem.On the other, the long term corporate development strategy of the company B in Chi-na has transferred from product testing and technical support to application developmentand fundamental research. The expectation of Research and Development capability hasbeen continuously increased. The current employee development system also needs to beupgraded to attract, motivate, train, develop and retain the talents. And it is crucial forcompany to maintain the competitiveness for sustainable growth in China. To align withthe corporate strategy, the integrated system needs to be developed to provide the careeradvancement guidance for R&D talents and to help them to develop the competencies forcareer advancement.Under the circumstance, the thesis reviewed the past research including competencymodel and career management, analyze the current company situation, summarize the po-tential problem of current career employee development system. The thesis also introducedthe competency model in R&D function. Through analyzing the key problems of currentR&D employee development in Company B, the thesis introduced the new approach byintegrating the competency model and career management. By building the dual careerpath and the competency based training system the designed the career management sys-tem of Research and Development employee based on competency model intent to sys-tematically improve the R&D employee career development. Finally, the thesis also con-sidered the encountered difficulties and proposed the solutions. |
