Port is an important passageway of regional economy. The capacity of the port is closely tied up with the prosperous degree of regional economy. As we all know, sea-going cargo transportation has accounted for85percent of all transportations of international trade, which exceeds other transportation means greatly, and the beginning and the terminal of transportation through the sea are all ports. In recent years, the construction of domestic port, especially the exploitation of deep wharf is extra ordinarily fast, which cause the local port to compete fiercely. Particularly, the competition of ports among the same economic region has become more and more fierce.Based on introducing the situation of the Guangzhou Port, this article used the theory of strategy management to analyze the ability of the company(the functions of management, business development and competitiveness, financial capacity, business resources), the macro environment (political and legal, socio-cultural, economic and financial, science and technology), the industry environment (competition with the industry structure and competitive behavior, customer the ability of negotiations with customers, suppliers structure, the ability to negotiate with suppliers, alternative business potential entrants).Finally we find out the advantages and disadvantages of Guangzhou Port Group Co.,Ltd and analyses its deficiencies and the problems it has to face. Basing on the analyses, the dissertation formulates the orientation of strategy and implementers project. To achieve the target, some suggestions from human resources, organizational structure, and financing and information construction should be implemented.
