According to the research data of Standish Group published in2003, among13,500IT projects that are surveyed, the percentage ofsuccessful projects is only34%.15%of the projects are complete failure,and51%of the projects are questionable. Therefore, how to implementsuccessful and effective IT information systems to upgrade and improvethe efficiency of enterprises is the key issue of project management andimplementation which need to be resolved. Certainly, there are manyfactors could affect the success of the project, such as human, cost, time,and communication etc. In which of these, the efficiency of themanagement of this communication is the most important one.In generate speaking, communication management always beincluded in any project. Because of human uncertainties communication,it makes a positive or negative effect to the project’s progress. Therefore,we need to master the right method of project communicationmanagement, to establish a mature, efficient, adaptable project communication management system can be implemented on the successof the project and play a positive role.Based on project management theory and the author’s workingexperience in project management for several MIS projects, this thesisstudies how to conduct effective communication management in thelifecycle of MIS projects. Specifically, this thesis proposes detailedmethods and procedures for communication management for differentphases of the MIS project enforcement. The author gives tips andworksheets for communication management designed for project startup,planning, and implementation phases, as well as completion phase of theproject. Based on a real case of MIS project, the author illustrates how toapply these methods and tips in communication management in differentphases of the MIS project and the effect of these methods. Alsocombined with the specific methods of communication, summarizing a setof effective operating processes and methods of model, as much aspossible to reduce the impact due to communication problems in theproject implementation process, and improve the success rate of theproject. The results of this thesis provide a valuable reference for projectmanagers in the IT industry.
