The city commercial banks in China since its establishment in1995,very rapiddevelopment.At present,the city commercial bank not only in terms of total asset sizeand profitability has made considerable progress,but in the overall strength of asubstantial increase.In1996November,Xiamen launched by the city city hall,in thepeople’s Bank of China head office approval,the establishment of the Xiamencommercial bank.After ten years of development,the Bank of Xiamen has establishedsix branches,34sub-branches and the head office of a sales department,in the assetsize and management capacity has been ranked in the forefront of the domestic citycommercial banks.However,because the background and reasons of Xiamen CityCommercial Bank was established and the reasons for rapid development,it has theproblem of asset quality is not high,lack of capital,capital adequacy ratio andrelatively low quality of personnel, assets, profitability of single core businesscompetitiveness problems,these problems have seriously affected the development ofXiamen city commercial bank.With the deepening of China’s economic reform and opening up,thecompetitiveness of city commercial banks has become an issue of concern.Toimprove the competitiveness of city commercial banks can not only meet the demandof China’s further reform of the financial system,but also can promote thedevelopment of world economic globalization and finance integration.So,how torespond to changes in the environment,improve the financial service system,citycommercial banks to enhance our city commercial bank’s market competitiveness,isthe current our country banking industry an important task to be solved.This paperaims to analyze the differentiation strategy of the Bank of Xiamen,to find the key tohinder its development,and to improve its competitiveness,and hope that through theresearch to the Xiamen City Commercial Bank,in order to help the other citycommercial banks to improve their own competitiveness.This paper firstly analyzed the status quo of China’s city commercial banks,haspointed out the present our country city commercial banks in the management of the existence of the problem,and puts forward the method of the competitiveness ofChina’s city commercial banks improve is to choose the differential developmentstrategy.Then,this paper analyzes how the city commercial banks to carry outdifferentiation strategy,and the Bank of Xiamen as an example,puts forward how tothrough the method of differential development strategy to enhance thecompetitiveness of the Bank of Xiamen.
