Research On Evolution Mechanism Of Knowledge Absorptive Capacity Of Equipment-manufacturing In The Open Innovation Environment

Equipment manufacturing industry, as the fundamental industry, providestechnology and equipment for national economic development and national defenseconstruction. It is of great significance to improve equipment manufacturing enterprise’sindependent innovation ability. Open innovation has become a strategic choice of manyChinese equipment-manufacturing enterprises to improve the ability of independentinnovation, companies faced the external knowledge spillovers need to take theinitiative to build inter-organizational knowledge networks to promote absorptivecapacity, in which mode the evolution mechanism and improving approaches ofknowledge absorptive capacity are urgently required to explore.First, Based on systematic analysis of more than20years relative research, wepresent two new concepts,"broad absorptive capacity" and "deep absorptive capacity",and explains their connotations. Furthermore, from the perspective of enterprise outsidenetwork, we unpack enterprise knowledge network into "inner" and "outer" componentscorresponding to the "weak ties" and "strong ties", and reveal the inner and outernetwork evolution mechanism based on the changes of network components.Accordingly, we construct equipment manufacturing enterprise broad and deepabsorptive capacity evolution mechanism conceptual model, through the questionnairesurvey, data analysis, using structural equation for confirmatory analysis. Finally, theimproving approaches of absorptive capacity of equipment-manufacturing enterprisesare proposed, from view points of external knowledge network, internal organizationmechanism, and internal-external dynamic coupling.This research helps to further develop theoretical research and empirical analysisof absorptive capacity, and to provide both theoretical support and decision-makingbasis for the practical operation of equipment-manufacturing and other similarenterprises. This study makes both theoretical and practical contributions to theabsorptive capacity and open innovation of equipment manufacturing enterprise. First,we promote absorptive capacity connotation and help explain he equipmentmanufacturing business strategy, technological innovation and other practical issues in anew perspective. Second, this study enterprises to enhance absorptive capacity, theimplementation of open innovation provides effective policies about enhancingabsorptive capacity and implementation of open innovation.
