While science and technology brings positive effects, it brings some negative impacts tonature, society and human beings. For instance, natural environment in which people live hasbeen destroyed, social security and ethics have challenged by science and technology, evenpeople’s physical and mental health are also seriously threatened. Inherent limitations ofscience and technology, limitations of human cognition are the main causes of negativeeffects. Accident is also one of the causes of negative effects. In order to better understand thenegative effects of science and technology, we should analyze the following stages:theoretical study, scientific innovation, the production and the application of technologyproducts. Among the four stages, utilization of science and technology has become one of theessential causes that lead to negative impacts. During the development of science andtechnology, government, researchers, enterprises and consumers take different responsibilities.The government should make planning on the field and development direction of technology,focusing on maintaining environment benefits, formulating relevant policies and laws.Researchers should bear social responsibility, maintaining scientific achievements andreasonably predicting the consequences of their theories. Enterprises should shoulder theecological responsibility, and make a rational application and support for science andtechnology. As consumers, they must restrain their consumption behaviors, reducing waste ofresources and cutting down the damage to environment. Based on analyzing theresponsibility for negative effects of science and technology, we can adopt reasonable andeffective measures from different dimensions. The measures will play an important role topromote harmony between man and nature.
