Three rural issues have been greatly cared and hotly debated by the government and scholars with an ultimate goal to improve farmers’income. Vegetables is not only an important source of farmers’income, but also daily consumer staples that are closely related to the general public. The stability of vegetable price affects the hearts of farmers and consumers. Nowadays, scholars and experts focus on how to make vegetables flow smoothly from farmers to consumers, how to provide inexpensive vegetables of high quality to consumers and how to increase farmers’revenue through vegetable production and that sort of thing.Weak links in vegetable industry chain, extremely loose coupling between various aspects, and relatively low added value are the development status of China’s vegetable industry. Combined with China’s specific national conditions, it is urged to organize the various components including cultivation, processing, distribution and consumption, develop closely vertical collaboration and form a complete industrial chain of vegetables to improve the vegetable industry output. Vegetable sales, as an important part of the industry chain, has an significant impact on the formation of the whole industry chain. Therefore, it has both theoretical and practical value to study the behavioral decision-making of farmers who participate in the form of vertical coordination. Based on a survey of238farmers in three counties of Nanning, this paper discusses the relevant factors that influence farmers choice of vertical coordination. First of all, related statistical characteristics about farmers are analyzed according to the sample survey data. The result shows that (1) in three main trade forms, the proportion of market transactions is largest, followed by the cooperation organization. The order agricultural farmers accounts for the minimum.(2) Most vegetable farmers are less educated. Many of them have planted vegetables over the years. Vegetable planting areas make up large proportion of family overall arable land. Meanwhile, a great portion of vegetable farmers participate in cooperative organization, if any. Then the logistic selection model is applied to evaluate these factors. It is found that vertical coordination is positively related to cultural degree, risk aversion, planting scale, close relationship like acquaintances or relatives, buyers’ credit and assured price, but negatively related to convenient transportation and low sales loss in the process. Other factors have been excluded in the iterative regress for their minor influence. This result verifies the hypothesis in this study. Afterwards, the cross analysis of these factors were carried on by using SPSS18.0statistical software. The results indicate that:(1) for farmers of the same age, those who has higher education are more inclined to join in vertical coordination. When there are local cooperation organizations, farmers tend to choose closer form of vertical coordination;(2) With the same planting years, the higher cultural degree farmers have, the more likely they are to choose closer form of vertical coordination;(3) for the farmers who have same planting scale, they tend to choose closer form of vertical coordination if any local cooperation organization exists;(4) for those who have low requirements for payment guarantee, they prefer the closer form of vertical coordination as the plant scale goes up. Finally, combining the above analysis, some constructive suggestions are put forward to promote vegetable farmers taking part in the vertical coordination more actively in terms of farmers’ personal attributes, production characteristics and transaction cost characteristics.
