Environmental protection and climate change is attracting great attentionof international society. Energy conservation and emission reduction is not only animportant measure to relieve global climate change but also bring scholars’ heatdiscussion in the political, economic, social, environmental and other fields.Economic development and foreign trade on carbon emission, this research subjectbelongs to environment and sustainable development and it is necessary in the contextof global climate warming, environmental deterioration, call for greenhouse gasemission reduction from all countries. This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is introduction, whichintroduces research background, purpose and method, insufficiency and literaturereview, etc. The second part is theoretical basis, which from an external point of viewanalyzes the cause of environmental problem, and analyzes economic and tradeinfluence on carbon emission from the aspect of scale effect, structure effect, technological effect and product effect, which provides basis for policy andsuggestions below. The third part is analysis of present situation, focusing ondeficiency in economic development of Jiangsu province and carbon emission. Thefourth part and the fifth part is empirical analysis of this paper. In the fifth part, it isconcluded that environmental kuznets curve presents typical inverted "U" typewhether using long-term equilibrium model or short-term error correction model. From the perspective of export, export and energy intensity is related with carbonemission per capita, which shows that export-oriented economy of Jiangsu province isbased on carbon pollution. High energy-consuming industries and carbon productsdevelop vigorously and mode of economic development is still extensive. The fifthpart is continual of the fourth part, which shows that industrial structure is notreasonable, energy consumption is relatively great and most consumption occurs inthe course of intermediate input, therefore industrial structure needs to be optimizedand upgraded. The sixth part is policy and suggestions for energy conservation andemission reduction, e.g. adjusting industrial structure, citing mechanism of energycleaning etc., in order to realize sustainable development of economy and foreigntrade.
