Nowadays, the environmental problems are getting more and more serious. Against thisbackground, hotels tend to introduce environmental management system (EMS) either foreconomic benefits or creating a desirable corporate image. In recent years, many developingcountries have been paying attention to environmental problems. On the one hand,governments compel various industries to adopt environmental behavior. On the other hand,corporations are becoming active in adopting environmental behavior for various factors ofthemselves. Under the guidance of the concept of tourism sustainable development, hotels, asan important part of tourism, begin to put environmental behavior into effect.The research contains three parts. In the first part, the author makes quantitative assessabout their environmental behavior situations. The second part is a probe into the insidedriving force factors and the influence mechanism. The third part is a research on thestrategies about how to promote implementations of environmental behavior. The detailedresearch methods are as following: relevant data is gathered from questionnaires;environmental behavior access equation is formed on the basis of factor analysis, and thescores that HEB (Hotel Environment Behavior) has got of the research samples is gatheredthrough the counting of the equation; the regression equation model in which the scores ofHEB as dependent variable and the driving force factors as independent variable is formed totest the research assumption. According to the test result of the research assumption, theauthor intends to promote the research of strategies on environmental behavior. The thesis hasboth theoretical and practical values:Theoretical values: First, there is a lack of HEB researches in China, therefore this thesisis creative in trying to making a research in this field. Second, this thesis creatively applieseconomics, management and some other theories into the theoretical analysis of HEB, whichperfect the theory basis of this field. Third, the author puts forward the driving force factors ofHEB, which formulates the theoretical framework and assumptions of this theory. This theoryis of great significance for providing a theoretical support for further studies such as theresearch of HEB performance.Practical values: First, it is the first time to make a quantitative access of HEB in theform of questionnaires, which objectively reflects the environmental management situationsin China. Second, this thesis focuses on inside driving force factors, and it tests theassumptions with regression method to make sure the prominent factors that influence HEB. The author makes great efforts in formulating the inside driving mechanism of HEB and atthe same time puts forward relevant strategies and suggestions.On the basis of theoretical research, the author quantitatively accesses the HEB ofresearch samples, and divides hotels into four categories:“proactive”,“defensive”,“Accommodative”, and “reactive”. This thesis has tested four research hypothesis, includinghotel scales, hotel growth cycles, hotel social responsibility motives, and hotel ranks.
