Since the1980s, in the backdrop of the rapid development of world economy, increasingly fierce competition in the international market. In order to improve the competitive power, achieves a larger share in the international market, constantly seeking various measures to improve their speed of response to market demand. Updating and application of supply chain management is one of the important measures.Supply chain management emphasizes establish long-term cooperative partnership between enterprises, to achieve mutually beneficial results. So in the information and knowledge sharing, and cooperation relations on the basis of full development, in the supply chain partners are seeking deeper integration and cooperation. Traditional most of the inventory management of supply chains are fragmented management mode, in this mode, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, each have each inventory control strategy, each have each inventory management mode. Due to the inventory management strategy of manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, appeared a certain degree of distortion phenomenon, namely we often say the demand amplification phenomenon. New means of competition and the requirements of modern enterprise management, put forward a new challenge for inventory management. Hence, VMI supply chain inventory management mode arises at the historic moment, it solved the problems cannot be solved in traditional inventory management. To manufacturers, suppliers and distributors have brought great benefits. VMI supply chain inventory management mode as a new, scientific inventory management mode, has been more and more people attach importance to and accept. However the VMI inventory management mode application in primary stage, in the practical use of it can well solve the traditional stock management deficiencies and defects, but still has some problems.Inventory management model in this paper, the Lenovo company as the research object, through the Lenovo company apply VMI process and effect analysis, and comparative analysis of three cases, the scope and limitations of VMI is proposed and the method of model selection under different service levels, to find ways to further optimize the VMI. As well as the improvement of VMI inventory management strategies and Suggestions. Research results obtained in this paper is based on system analysis and summary on the basis of the existing achievements, the effective improvement, innovation and development, for enterprise to implement VMI inventory management has a certain theoretical guidance and practical application value.
