Development and utilization of renewable energy is an elementary factor ofimplementing the scientific development outlook, constructingresource-conservation society and achieving sustainable economic development.Supply of sufficient, safe and clean energy is the basic safeguard for economicdevelopment and social progress. Renewable-energy industry belongs to capitalconcentrated and high technology intensive industry. Development of renewableenergy can do help on the development of strategic emerging industries. Therefore,its development could help improve technology, economy and investment, thusfacilitates the employment in China. As an important driving force behindmaintaining sustainable development in our future society, its own development willenhance economy and investment, while as a part of the strategic emergingindustries, it creates new jobs. On the other hand, as the result of technologyadvance, its creative destruction effect pose threats to traditional energy sectors:Gradual shrinking on the scale of production and ability to absorbing labor force.Workers from traditional energy sectors are going to face with a tough job market, oreven unemployment. Whether or not development of renewable energy would domore contribution than damage is a problem to be inspected urgently.By combing domestic and foreign literatures on renewable energy andemployment, the paper argues that energy, especially renewable one, impacts oneconomy, technology and investment, thereby influencing the employment. Underthe guidance of the creative destruction theory, the paper analyses the influentialeffect on how renewable energy affects employment in our country qualitatively andpoints out that there exists not only effect of compensating employment but alsodestructive effect of employment. After that, with the help of system dynamicsmethod, the paper simulate the situation and the future development trend ofeconomy, society and technology. It turns out that the development of renewableenergy does a push to the growth of scientific talent. At the same time, the actualpulling-effect of renewable energy to the employment growth has been explored and calculated from the national employment aspect.
