Study On The Behavior Of Different Types Of Large-scale Rice Farmers On Technology Application

This article divided the large-scale rice farmers into two types: traditional large-scalerice farmers and vocational large-scale rice farmers based on the Transaction Cost Theory.Then it described the basic characteristics of two types large scale rice farmers intechnology using and studied the factors affecting technology using behavior by applyingLogistic model. At last, it compared the differences of technology application behaviorbetween two types of large-scale rice farmers.Through the analysis of the above content, this paper indicated the followingconclusions:(1)The rising of production cost has a promoting effect to farmers’technology requirements, but has a restrain effect to farmers’ timing in adoptingtechnology. The rising of production cost will stimulate farmers to seek new technology toimprove existing conditions so that their technology requirements increased. Conversely,the rising of production cost will restrain farmers’ timing in adopting technology so thatthey can reduce risk and save cost.(2)Vocational large-scale rice farmers’ demand fortechnology is higher than traditional famers.Two types of farmers have a same trend intechnology requirements. But for some technologies that can rent or nonuse, such asAgricultural Machinery Technology, New Varieties Technology, vocational large-scale ricefarmers are higher than traditional large-scale rice farmers.(3)Different types oflarge-scale rice farmers have different influences in timing in adopting technology.Through empirical analysis, whether or not to accept technical training, rice plantingexperience, family workers in agriculture, agriculture-related communications costs andaccess to technology have a positive effect on the timing for traditional large-scale ricefarmers. Rice planting size, rent for the land and the price of labor have a positive effect onthe timing for vocational large-scale rice farmers.
