Study Of Performance Management In Chinese Commercial Banks

The paper is a research based on performance management of Qingdao Branch of China Construction Bank. Combined with performance management theory, it discusses the problems that China commercial banks have when they do their performance management, then it brings forward some measures for improvement. And this research is done under the background of China commercial banks’ system reformation.Analysis with the performance management theory, this paper suggests that performance management has five processes:framing performance plans, implementing performance and management, performance feedback process and the result application of performance assessment. Then, with the case of Qingdao Branch of China Construction Bank, this paper finds the problems it has when does its performance management after acknowledging its performance management work. And based on the performance management theory and the case analysis before, this paper analyses the problems that China commercial banks have when they do their performance management.Based on the problems that brought forward forth, this paper makes the following suggestions for improvement:First of all, Frame the performance plans based the actual situations that the banks face; Second of all, consummate the system of performance communication in the implementing performance and management process; Third of all, consummate the measures of performance assessment, and uses different measures to assess different staffs; Forth of all, enhance the system of performance feedback, and enhance the parallelism of performance feedback and other processes; Fifth of all, apply the result of performance assessment in the right way. At the same time, this paper goes forward to analyzing the handicaps that China commercial banks will meet when they do performance management improvement, and gives some corresponding resolves.
