In order to research the relationship between China’s economic sectors’ selectiveopening and industrial total factor productivity growth rate. This paper established theVAR model on the base of the data of the total factor productivity growth and industryopening degree from1992to2011.And we used the Granger causality test to studythe connection between these two variables. The empirical result shows that the secondary industrial total factor productivitygrowth rate grew year by year, but the tertiary industrial total factor productivitygrowth rate declined year by year. The secondary industrial opening-up is the Grangercause of the secondary industry total factor productivity growth rate. However, thetertiary industrial opening-up is not the Granger cause of the tertiary industry totalfactor productivity growth rate. The secondary industrial opening-up restrains thesecondary industry total factor productivity growth rate. The tertiary industrialopening-up promotes the tertiary industry total factor productivity growth rate in ashort term. In the meanwhile, we also can find that the self-improvement effect of thetertiary industry total factor productivity growth rate is comparatively prominent. Thatis to say, the improvement of skill level influences more obviously on skill levelenhancement than the opening-up. However, the self-improvement effect is stilluncertain on the second industry.
