| In recent years, China’s tourism industry achieves rapid development. The WTO has forecasted China will be the greatest tourism destination and the fourth tourist output country in the world in2020. China’s tourism industry’s prospect is very bright. Tourism higher education is the base to develop the tourism personnel and enhance the employability of tourism talent. As an important part of the higher education, tourism higher education, which is the basis for China’s tourism development, should be optimized constantly, combining with the actual demand.This paper relies on the theory of employability. The theory of employability originated in early20th century, which was initially to study how to solve the problem of employment of the unemployed at national policy level. After entering the21st century, the research and practice of employability penetrated into more areas. The higher education was influenced by this theory with no exception. The theory of employability plays an important role in the optimization of tourism higher education’s model.The paper consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction. It systematically generalized the research questions, research background, methods, contents, research reviews, relevant concepts and theories. The second part defines the connotation of the employability theory and quantitatively analyzes the elements of tourism employability with the application of the analytic hierarchy process. Part three first generally analyzes tourism higher education, then defines and figures out the research significance of tourism higher education. Chapter four proposes five measures to optimize the tourism higher education based on the theory of employability. Part five summarizes the views and short comings of the paper and presents the problems to be solved.The article presents some views of tourism higher education development in the opinion of employability, which is valuable to China’s tourism higher education reform. |
