NoC(Network-on-Chip)has become a hot research scholars at home and abroad inrecent years. For NoC applied to complex systems, the IP cores in the network exercisedifferent functions. So the links’ bandwidth requirements are also different, while thelink’s bandwidth has a direct impact on the NoC’s average latency and throughput.Sohow to reduce the NoC’s bandwidth consumption without reducing the performance ormaximize the NoC’s performance in the case of limited bandwidth resources is a veryimportant issue in the NoC technology. To solve these problems above,we propose a bandwidth optimization method forNoC.The method counts the link’s bandwidth requirements based on the nodes’ taskassignment and optimized the link’s bandwidth without changing the total bandwidth toobtain a NoC having a high throughput and low latency. We use OPNET to do thecomparison experiment between a balanced and non-balanced bandwidth NoC.For thesimulation result of the network model using the TFRA routing algorithm,thenon-balanced bandwidth NoC’s average delay is less than the balanced by40.8%andthe throughput is increased by1.5%.This improves that the bandwidth optimizationmethod can effectively improve network performance and save the network bandwidthconsumption.
