Academic Libraries Data Curation Service And Related Storage Technology Research

With the progress of the time and the development of science and technology, the problems which the scientific researches have to face are becoming more and more complex, and involve multiple discipline areas, the researchers desire to gain more research resources, more open academic exchanges and participate in agency cooperation of a broader scale. However due to the higher demand for technical and financial support, thus in normal circumstance only large-scale research projects with strong financial support are able to select and use the institutional repositories, and for the small research projects in the universities, there is no possibility to afford such a cost. These small research projects are stymied by the wide geographical distribution, fewer participants and less investment, the storage and maintenance of research data are often handled by members of project team, without unified format standard, perfect disaster recovery method, any open academic exchange or a long-term use strategy, therefore a lot of research data would be lost unnoticeably before being efficiently used, which results in a great waste of research resources. Academic libraries can use the professional advantages of data and library and information, and practical experiences of management to participate in the academic research providing professional data curation service, and increase the value of them in library subject service.In this essay, it is mainly focused on data curation service and related storage technology. Data curation is an international hot issue of the research practice of library and information science, it is the new direction for the development of the service of academic library, and the related storage technology is the foundation and the guarantee of its implementation and the development. Firstly, in this essay the history and evolution of research data and its related work will be reviewed, the definition of in-and extension of the concept of data curation defined by domestic and international scholars will be collected and analyzed, and my own understanding will be proposed further. Secondly, domestic and international research and practice in the field of data curation from the terms of theoretical researches, practices and education and training will be introduced and compared, the meaning and service-orientation of data curation being deployed in academic library will be elaborated, the related storage technology will be emphasized, and the storage solutions will be researched and designed. Finally, analyze the difficulties of the deployment of data curation in academic library will be analyzed, and appropriate suggestions and countermeasures will be proposed.
