In the wake of developments in national economy, China is facing a severe situation shifting from a big manufacturing country to a powerful one, and the production efficiency and product quality attract much attention. On the other hand, with the advance of industrial automation systems in decentralization, networking, and intellectualization, the seamless connection of shop floor control and office management has become an inevitable trend, and as a result, Industrial Ethernet has become a research hotspot. Through theoretical studies and field tests, this paper designs a glass cutting machine control system based on Industrial Ethernet.The paper begins with an introduction of the research status and development trend of the glass cutting machine at home and abroad, then strengths and the key issues to be resolved of the industrial Ethernet used in CNC field are analyzed. Secondly, according to the actual requirements of glass cutting machine, the hardware platform using the EtherMAC Industrial Ethernet bus technology is built, based on which the distributed cross-platform software framework is designed and the Hierarchical Finite State Machine and Socket communication is discussed in detail. Thirdly, exhaustive research and analysis are taken in several key technologies for the control system automatic kernel functions, including improvements in the original interpolation algorithm, automatic boundary finding function and tool offset compensation algorithm, as well as tool tangential tracing control. After that, analysis is made on the important function of glass cutting system-nesting optimization; meanwhile, a combination of heuristic algorithm and genetic algorithm for the layout method is proposed. Finally, the overall design scheme of glass cutting machine control system is proposed, field-tested and improved through debugging.This scheme adopts Industrial Ethernet technology and conforms to the development trend in the field of CNC. According to the application requirements of glass cutting machine, the architecture of cross-platform distributed control system and the algorithm of tool tangential tracing are presented, which have certain innovation and application value.
