The information technology, with dramatic rapid development in the21st Century, has become an important driving force in the third revolution of science and changed our life in every way it can be changed. The information technology device has become stronger in performance, smaller in size and more humanized in design, but it also face some problems, such as technological monopoly, high price and overdoing in performance. The WMCT team has launched a key research in information technology, has proposed a new information mode called "cloud computing server and broadband network and thin client". This team has been supported by two major projects of independent innovation achievements of Shandong Province and one company horizontal cooperation project. This paper is derived from company horizontal cooperation project "The embedded terminal design based on AMD APU" project.Now the client terminal is mainly based on traditional Wintel architecture, known as PC. But PC is facing virus attack, storage waste and technological monopoly in software and hardware technology. The characteristics of China rainbow computer is low-cost, low-power, high-reliability, high security, high rate of resource utilization, Easy-maintainable, easy to use. According to these design philosophy, WMCT team has designed terminals including two generations of products based on the ARM architecture running Linux and Android system. In this paper, the main goal is to design a new terminal based on AMD APU X86architecture, as a higher performance computer version in the rainbow products series, and introduce Windows desktop operating system, including the research on X86desktop application, to improve the rainbow computer to deal with different needs in different application scenario.The main research content of this paper is as follows:1. Research on schematic and PCB design based on Candence, including schematic diagram cutting, schematic diagram checking, PCB source file import, package production, PCB layout, electromagnetic interference, power supply layer segmentation and so on. The main work is to accomplish the high-speed PCB design based on AMD APU.2. Research on heterogeneous computing technology (OpenCL mainly), supported by the APU architecture. Based on OpenCL, it accelerates the algorithm efficiency in matrix multiplication and image inpainting.3. Research on android operating system installation based on the architecture of X86. In this paper, considering development situation of X86android, it presents two running modes based on the virtual machine and hardware installation.With the support of project" The embedded terminal design based on AMD APU", the first version of PCB design and SMT production part has been completed through close cooperation with AMD, and the test terminal has been sent to AMD in Beiijng. The subsequent software development is done on the alternative terminal with same performance of X86test terminal synchronously.
