One of the most important functions of radar is to measure the target’s spatiallocation. The spatial location includes radial range, elevation angle and azimuth angle.The methods of elevation angular measurement for radars are mainly studied in thispaper. Firstly, the basic principles of angular measurement are simply described whichincludes phase-based method and amplitude-based method. Secondly, the principles ofthree conventional angular measurement methods including the maximum signalmethod, array scanning method and the monopulse angular measurement are introduced.Then the process and performance of monopulse angular measurement method aredetailed analyzed. Finally, the method named multi-beam monopulse angularmeasurement based on beam choosing for multi-beam radar antenna is proposed in thispaper. The computer simulation results prove the availability and superiority. |
