With the advent of the information age, computer automation and graphics technologyhas made great progress.In combination with other technologies, automation andcomputer graphics technology in various industries have wide applications. In thepower industry, due to the increasing power demands of large-scale structures andelectrical equipment, insulation sleeve made of silicone rubber has huge usage.With theoccurs of aging of the insulating sleeve,the insulation characteristics will be greatlyreduced.need regular testing conducted its insulating properties, the traditional manualtesting methods which have to rely on the experience gradually can not meet the actualneeds. The application of computer automation technology in the test of insulationcharacteristics has become very urgent.This system is mainly designed by Labview platform with Matlab as the graphicsprocessing tools and Microsoft Access2003as the backend database development tool.According to the current situation of insulation properties test and national standards, thepaper proposed system PC software architecture of test system. The image processingmethod of hydrophobic detection, craks detection and tracking tedetection is used as acore technology.The software is designed according to requirements of automatic test,and data storage.The paper proposes the realization of main software functions, whichincude parameter settings, test module, data storage and retrieval and reports generation.Finally, this paper discusses the software test. The results showed that: the system canobtain accurate results of insulating properties, including hydrophobicity, cracks andtracking. This system realizes testing automation and standardization of insulationproperties improve efficiency and reduce labor costs.
