FCoE Protocol Conformance Research And Validation Based On TTCN-3

Protocol is the subject of network communication and its implemented correctly is the key to ensure the normal operation of the network. With the development of network technology, people show increasing requirements on the correctness of protocol implementation. Therefore, protocol conformance testing mainly used to verify whether the communications equipment manufacturers have achieved the protocol standards needs further study.Due to the integration of Ethernet and storage area network, the simplification of network environment and the enhancement of network scalability, FCoE have received much concern. As a converged network, FCoE allows transmitting LAN and FC SAN data on a communications cable, reducing the number of cables and data center equipment, while reducing power and cooling load, helping to reduce administrative burden. Since the current protocols are described in natural language, implementers’different understanding of protocols will produce different implementations, so conformance testing is the key to ensure the proper implementation of equipment. In this paper, the use of TTCN-3test with a formal language to describe the process to achieve the current protocol conformance test is a more popular test method. TTCN-3is a standardized test method with an abstract interface to shield encoding, decoding and specific packets to send and receive operations, simplifying the compliance testing process. In the automated test equipment for data communications, the use of TTCN-3to describe test process can reduce test inputs and improve test efficiency and test quality and achieve FCoE protocol conformance test automation.This paper studies the consistency and verification of protocol for Fibre Channel over Ethernet. Firstly, based on deep study of protocol conformance testing theory methods, FCoE module protocol standards, working mechanism, packet format, designed FCoE protocol conformance testing program. Secondly, based on research of protocols and FCoE module test case design methods, designed test points and test cases and achieved TTCN-3. coding. Finally, completed the FCoE module conformance testing based on TTCN-3.
