With the rapid development of mobile internet, the demands for indoor localization accuracy are increasing unprecedentedly. The Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) technology is attractive due to the advantages of penetrability, multipath distinguishing and delicate time resolution. In order to decrease the hardware complexity and energy consumption, researches on1-bit ADC are emerging. Researchers focus on reducing the hardware complexity and energy consumption and meanwhile hold a considerate performance loss.Commonly, position estimations are made through TOAs of more than three anchor nodes in current1-bit IR-UWB systems, In our system, we make position estimation through TOA/AOA of single anchor node. According to the method, this paper proposed a1-bit IR-UWB positioning system, whose receiver only consists of few antennas, few high speed comparators and a DSP part. In the meanwhile, this paper designed two TOA/AOA estimation algorithms to mitigate SNR loss and linear distortion in1-bit signals. In the first algorithm, the geometrical relation between incoming signal and antenna array was taken into account. We made joint estimation of TO A and AOA after obtaining TOAs of the array elements. Our main contribution is the design of1-bit TOA algorithm. The proposed one is a variant of full-bit TOA algorithms, in which the characteristics of1-bit signals are considered. Besides, we proposed techniques to optimize some basic parameters of system implementation. The simulation results show that the accuracy of15cm ranging and3°AOA can be obtained by two antennas array, when the array size is100cm and the sampling rate is8GHz.In the second algorithm, we improved the traditional algorithm for signals with ful-lbit ADCs. The revision is benefit to eliminate multipath interference step to fit the character of1-bit signals. We analyzed the performance in a100cm, two antennas system with40GHz sampling rate. The simulation results show that the accuracy of0.45cm ranging and0.4°AOA can be obtained.
