With the rapid development of the national economy, the number of population and property in the building is also growing quickly. While the fire which caused by lines due to aging and electrical overload is threatening the safety of people’s life and property in every moment. In order to avoid fire or reduce the loss caused by the fire, on the one hand we should reduce the factors which caused by fire, on the other hand,we can have a warning in a timely manner when the fire is about to happen. So the study of monitoring the area that easy to fire and fire warning is necessary.Traditional fire detectors is an isolated point generally, only the alarm when a fire occurs.It’s structure and function is single. Once no one guards at the scene, it may lead to significant losses because of fire. At present the fire detector that can network can form a automatic alarm monitoring network, which pass the message to the remote monitoring center through adopting the way of wired connection, and implements the site and remote to be able to discover the fire timely. However, taking the cable connection is easy to cause difficulties which are the install and maintain of communication line. Due to the large number of wires are embedded into wall or ceiling covering, once there are problems of the line caused by aging or corrosion, there will be blocking transmission of fire information, at the same time, maintenance of cable network will spending lots of manpower, material and financial resources.ZigBee technology is one kind of emerging wireless network technology with low power consumption, short distance, low data rate, low cost. It consists of the network is a kind of short distance,low rate wireless sensor network, which has the advantages of low power consumption, suitable for power battery. It has the following characteristics: realize peer to peer communication between two points or point to multipoint; network auto configuration fast, automatic recovery function; arbitrary nodes in network can coordinate with each other to realize data communication. Under the condition of requesting more network nodes with data acquisition and monitoring, the amount of data transmission is not large, data transmission with high security, the cost of equipment is low, small equipment volume, complex terrain and requires a large network coverage, ZigBee technology can give full play to its advantages to meet the above requirements. ZigBee technology can be widely used in industrial, digital home, intelligent building control and other fields.Firstly, this paper introduces the development status and trend of ZigBee technology at home and abroad, with emphasis on the characteristics of ZigBee technology and protocol stack structure, laying a theoretical foundation for the design of ZigBee nodes. Then according to the relevant national standards and design requirements, putting forward the overall scheme of ZigBee node, and designing the ZigBee node from two aspects of hardware and software. Next giving relevant improvement measures how to design a low power node. And through the analysis of ZigBee routing algorithm, proposing an improved ZigBee routing algorithm based on battery voltage detection. Finally, we test the function and performance of the Smoke and Temperature Sensitive ZigBee node, and test the reliability and stability of the network through the measurement and control network consists of multiple ZigBee smoke and temperature sensing nodes. The experimental results show that, the function and performance index of ZigBee smoke and temperature sensing node accords with design requirements. The stability of node and power consumption have obvious improvement by using the hardware and software anti-interference and low power design measures.
