With the rapid development of broadband network technology, the application of IP multicast routing is more and more broad. TV network television, IP conference television, videos on demand, IP multicast data transmission become the new major business of Internet Service Provider, theses businesses can be implemented by multicast.The multicast technology has become one of the current hot research topics in the field of information and communication. Because of the reason of depending on a specific unicast routing protocol, the traditional PIM-SM multicast protocol is easy to implement and extend, and it is widely used. In order to further reduce its complexity and improve the working efficiency of the PIM-SM protocol, PIM-SM protocol has been extensed by M. Handley, I. Kouvelas et al.to form BIDIR-PIM (Bidirectional PIM) protocol.With the background of the research project of the implement of BIDIR-PIM protocol in H3C, and on the basis of deeply analysis of the BIDIR-PIM protocol, the function modules of multicast routing of BIDIR-PIM module is studied, and the PIM module controlled the multicast data Bidirectional forwarding is designed and implemented.Firstly, the research status of related multicast technology and its implementation in enterprises are analyzed. Secondly, it summarily introduces the working mechanism of BIDIR-PIM procotol is introduced, and the requirement analysis and overall design of BIDIR-PIM module are made From the Point of view of functionized and modelized. Then, the detailed design and run design of the function modules of BIDIR-PIM are made.In the implementation process of the BIDIR-PIM protocol, under this circumstance of no receiver, only when the multicast data reach the RPA it is discarded, resulting in the waste of link bandwith. Aimed at this problem, am implementation scheme of prohibiting spread the Notification message is proposed to reduce the waste of link bandwidth.Finally, the network testing environment is setup. And the Bidirectional forwarding function of BIDIR-PIM is test with Winpcap and wireshark. The results show that the implementation of BIDIR-PIM meets the design requirements.
