Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been widely used in people’s daily life and industry activities, because of its unique advantages, such as processing a high antijamming capability, working in the extreme environment, storing and transmitting more information and having a long operating life. One of the most important applications is the supply chain management. In supply chain environment, the ownership of items and their RFID tags is always transferred in their lifecycle. Because of the open wireless environment between the RFID tag and the reader and the limited capablities of computing, communication and transmission of RFID tag, both of them are vulnerable to eavesdropping, replying and tracking attack during the process of ownership transferring. Especially, the RFID tags are usually transferred in groups. However, the traditional RFID security authentication protocol and the ownership transfer protocol for single tag can not satisfy the recent demands of practical application any more. Therefore, how to acheive the secure ownership transferring of group RFID tags and guarantee the security and privacy of the RFID tag owners have become one of the crucial technical problems that decide whether RFID can develop sustainedly or not.To solve the above problems, the main work has been done as follows:Firstly, considering the security and privacy threats and the group characteristics during Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) tag ownership transferring, the deficiencies of the existing group ownership transfer protocols for RFID tag are analyzed.Secondly, a new secure group ownership protocol SGOTP (Secure Group Ownership Transfer Protocol) for RFID tag is proposed based on the symmetric key updating management strategy with TTP and only by adopting a simple keyed hash function and a lightweight symmetrical encryption algorithm.Thirdly, the security of SGOTP is proved based on GNY logic, the safety and efficiency performance of SGOTP are studied by theoretical analysis. Results demonstrate that SGOTP can transfer multi-tag in a session, resist the corresponding security and privacy threats and avoid the dual ownership. The new protocol has a higher security and lower computational complexity of tag comparing with the similar protocols.
