Along with the rapid development of Chinese economy, people gradually demand for more and more economic information, which provide an enormous opportunity that the business magazines can develop fastly. In recent years, the business magazine market has been unusually active. Many business magazines were recently started, such as China Economic Weekly, National Financial Weekly, New Financial Economics, Global Economics. Plusing those launched previously, such as Caijing Magazine, Economy, the competition in the market is more and more intensive.In order to been more competitive, the business magazines have to make to make improvements. The contents of magazines are constantly differentiated, the groups of readers are refined and the marketization degree is rising. Looking back the development history of the business magazines in our country in recent years, we can find that the tendency basically coincides with the law of media development in the focus communication age. The business magazines have been divided into more detailed and specialized areas. As a result, more and more species of business magazines appear on the market. Regional business magazine is one of them.Taking Pivot as an example, this essay means to analyze current situation of the development of regional business magazines. Pivot is a business magazine managed by the Propaganda Department of CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, and published by Hubei Daily Media Group. It focuses on regional development with a global perspective. Together with Zheshang Magazine, which is jointly published by Zhejiang Daily Press Group, Zhejiang Radio and Television Group, and Zhejiang Private Enterprise Association, Pivot is a representative regional business magazine.The essay contains four parts. The first part, introduction, mainly states the purpose, significance, and current situation of the study, and proposes the problem that this study wants to solve. The second part analyzes the position of Pivot, sketches out regional business magazines, summarizes the development history of Pivot, and compares the position of Pivot with other business magazines. The third part uses content analysis, comprehensively and meticulously analyzing Pivot, such as content strategies, types of topics, reporting tendency and reporting style, etc. The fourth part come up with my own thought about how to improve the core competence of regional business magazines.There are four innovation points in this essay.Firstly, Pivot is a new magazine on which Scholars and people in media industry haven’t studied. This paper is the first research about the magazine.Secondly, it further extends related conceptions, such as "regional business magazine", etc.Thirdly, it comprehensively and thoroughly researches regional business magazine for the first time.Fourthly, combined comprehensive research with individual case research, it analyzes the current situation of the development of regional business magazines with content analysis for the first time.
