In the past, Cataloging is the highest levels technical work in the Academic libraries, it is also the core business, but with the cataloging outsourcing introduced to China by the United States and Europe, it is applied widely to the Academic libraries and formed a huge impact, the core values of cataloging has been questioned, the cataloging of Academic libraries is increasingly and being marginalized. How to change the dilemma of Academic libraries cataloging and make it develop better, is the problem that we should face and resolve.This article describes the current situation of the development of Academic libraries cataloging outsourcing, and analysis in-depth combined with China’s national conditions, thinks about the reason for the rapid development of Academic libraries cataloging outsourcing in our country, in addition to that it is an advanced business management model with benefits, but also because the special circumstances faced by Academic libraries at the beginning of the21st century, with the enrollment and merger of universities, the purchase quantity of Academic libraries increased significant for the teaching evaluation by the Ministry of Education, because of the serious shortage of cataloging Human and Financial Resources, Academic libraries can not complete by themselves and turn to the social institutions for help, So actually Academic libraries choose cataloging outsourcing Passive at the beginning, while there are still some problems in outsourcing cataloging system, especially the quality risk, and our university library also have the special nature of the institution compared to foreign libraries, so that the advantages of outsourcing cataloging and can not be fully used, University Library should adopt a series of methods to supervise and manage outsourcing cataloging,such as unified standard bibliographic data, established the alliances of cataloging outsourcing contractor, improved quality control system, and the other ways, standardize cataloging outsourcing contractors, reducing the risks taken by cataloging outsourcing to Academic libraries. We should also recognize that, cataloging outsourcing is just a management mode, it is not necessarily the best mode of Academic libraries cataloging, Academic libraries should actively explore other management mode actively, to operate cataloging better. This article envisages two models for the Academic libraries,the one is "internal contract" of catalog business, and the other is strengthen the cooperation with booksellers, the model proposed the preliminary opinion about construction and implementation, absorb the advanced Enterprise management concept, preserve and develop Academic libraries cataloging, hoping to offer some reference for Academic libraries.Cataloging is significant for Library Literature Resources Construction, direct affect the ability of the library’s information services. According to the environment of cataloging outsourcing at present, Academic libraries should be based on their own situation, make the rational choice about cataloging outsourcing, to further improve cataloging outsourcing mechanism and strengthen the quality control, at the same time, they can not abandon cataloging of their own, should reposition and strengthen cataloging team, changes and expand the content and ways of cataloging, strengthening the description of digital information, reveal the literature resources deeply, provide more comprehensive information for the reader, improve the ability of the knowledge service, to make Academic libraries cataloging adapt the trend of network and socialization, improve their competitiveness in the industry, get rid of the current dilemma faced by, seek greater development in the new situation.
