Image enhancement is one of the most co mmonly used technique in the field of image processing. It is a low-level processing and an important part of image preprocessing. From the perspective of the effect of algorithm, an adaptive local image enhancement algorithm based on mean and standard deviation is proposed by researching on commen local contrast enhancement algorithms.The algorithm uses Local Mean(LM) and Local Standard Deviation(LSD) to select regional to enhance local visual effect and preserve the other area.First, an local image enhancement algorithm based on logarithmic transformation is proposed for enhancing the area where has low LM and LSD and preserves the other area. Experimental results show that use the improved algorithm has better effect than logarithmic transformation, the effect is improved obviously. The algorithm enhances local details effectively without changing the region no need to change and highlights the local details clearly. It provides satisfied image for the next processing and has important referenced significance to similar local image enhancement.Second, an adaptive local image enhancement algorithm based on mean and standard deviation is proposed. It dynamically adjusts the enhancement factor based on LM and LSD for enhancing local details pertinently. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm has better effect than commen local contrast enhancement algorithms. It can effectively balance the overall effect and local details as well as highlight the local details more clearly.In short, local enhancement algorithm two improved image proposed, has reference significance to similar local image enhancement. The thesis is from the visual effects (qualitative) two aspects and information entropy were evaluated on the effect of image enhancement, the next step can use else suitable image evaluation methods to comprehensive evaluation of the enhancement effect.
