Real-time remote monitoring of greenhouse environment can not only provide suitable conditions for crop growth, increase yield and quality, but also reduce labour inputs and production costs. Therefore, it has been a goal for the designers of greenhouse monitoring to acquire data and images within the greenhouse quickly and conveniently in remote areas. While greenhouse environment is abnormal, user can get environmental data and images via MMS real-time, and can control greenhouse by sending SMS. This system is easy for installation, convenient to use and low cost.Combination of embedded control technology, GPRS wireless communication technology, sensor technology and DirectShow technology was used in this system, which adopted OK6410development board based on S3C6410processor as controller module and integrated of sensor module, image acquisition module, communication module and control module. The operating environment of the system was WinCE.OK6410development board was the core control part of the whole system, providing a stable and reliable environment for each module and controlling every part. The sensor module was made up of AM2301digital temperature and humidity sensor, which realized data collection of temperature and humidity within the greenhouse. The image acquisition module was composed of OV9650camera based on CMOS image sensor, which acquired the image of operation device states in the greenhouse with the assistance of DirectShow technology and the image was saved to development board’s NandFlash by controller when the acquisition was successful. The communication module was composed of SIM300GPRS, which sent the collected data and images to the user in the form of MMS when environmental data was abnormal, and it received control messages sent from the user. Control module was made up of digital relay module and controlled the device after the controller sent SMS. The operation devices included skylights, sun-shade, spray, drip irrigation and so on. Their on-off states was controlled to adjust greenhouse environmental parameters, so as to achieve the purpose of controlling the greenhouse environment in remote areas.The system was eventually tested in greenhouse model and the results indicated that the system is highly reliable, stable, well real-time, easy to use, cost less, accurate controlling. It is suitable for realizing automated control of greenhouse.
