With the rapid development of information, people have become increasingly demandingon the network. The rise of3G,4G in China, and the recent rapid development of opticalcommunication technology FTTX draw people’s attention to the optical transceiver industryin recent years. Optical transceiver mainly locate in the physical medium dependent layer ofOptical Fiber Communication Ethernet Protocol, dealing with data transmission and reception.The development of optical transceiver will be more intelligent and miniature. It is veryimportant for families to access broadband when applying optical transceiver to thefiber-optic communications.First, the paper introduces overseas and domestic researches on optical transceiver interms of the development of optical fiber communication. Combined the development ofoptical transceiver and the main working principle of optical transceiver, we would select theappropriate device to build systems. The main function of optical transceiver is to completeconversion between optical and electricity. The core components of optical communicationtechnology is light. Therefore, this study will use lasers and detectors, one to transfer theoptical signal into electrical signal, and the other to transfer optical signal into electrical signal.As a result, we would research about main operating principle and performance of lasers andchoose the right one to complete the system.Second, it is important to grasp the working principle of optical transceiver and select theappropriate laser driver chips. In order to make the laser to work, we need to choose theappropriate chip based on the ability to make the laser working and the working principle ofthe clip. Laser Driver IC provides drive current for laser to make it work and transmit signalscarrying data. Due to long working hours and effects of environment temperature, theoperating current of laser will changes. Therefore we need to add a circuit that canautomatically control power, so that the transmitter circuit can work properly. We will selectthe appropriate laser driver according to these features. Finally, we design the circuit based on the selected chip. In the design of light emittingcircuit, first we need to study the electrical performance characteristics of the laser driver.According to its electrical performance principles, we make the design of circuit and test it.Through its electrical properties studies, we can better understand the working principles ofoptical performance and design the circuit based on these features to complete the systemdesign. Since the signal of this circuit is the high-speed signal transmission, we need toconsider key design points for high-speed circuit. Considering the characteristics of laserdiode, and the impact of the interface circuit between laser diode and the PCB on the entirecircuit, we need to optimize our system design and obtain a well-performed circuit byrepeated testing. We would conduct testing for electrical and optical properties of this system,and record test waveforms, electric eye diagram, optical eye diagram and other related data.
