Enterprise railway line is the internal material transportation line, takes charge of delivering supplies and guaranties the production tasks. Shunting operation is an important link in enterprise railway transportation, and its working efficiency has decisive impact on railway transportation ability and enterprises scale of production. In shunting operation process, signal status is confirmed mainly by drivers and shunters, accidents happen from time to time. It has been a big threat to the safety in railway transportation. Meanwhile it brings economic loss to enterprises. So we need to develop a system to protect the locomotive and drivers. That is security shunting monitoring system based on the positioning technology.The system is designed under the background of shunting operation at a steel mill in hebei province. It can be divided into ground positioning host, ground positioning extension and vehicular terminal. Ground host communicates with ground extension via internal LAN optical fiber, vehicular terminal transmit data to ground via wireless communication technology. Ground host collect locating information from GPS system’s server, and ground extension get information from interlock system.And then, precise positioning and real-time dynamic tracking and correct the tracking error. At the same time, interlocking data and locomotive information are sent to vehicular terminal by ground extension. According to the real-time information to control locomotive, and reach the purpose of shutting safety.Locomotive signal shown on vehicular terminal can prevent the locomotive from overrunning of signal and overspeeding operation. At the same time, storing locomotive information, interlock information and route information for a history playback, can be used for fault analysis and diagnosis.This essay is mainly to complete the design and implementation of security shunting monitoring system. Firstly, it will introduce the background and researches at home and abroad of shunting monitoring system. Secondly, the structure, function and working principle of shunting monitoring system and security shunting monitoring system will be introduced. Thirdly, according to the general structure of the vehicular terminal, it will carry on the demand analysis, introduce communication interface and design all functional module including data initialization, data transmission, real-time display, data storage. At last, software design of each module will be carried out according to its functional module, vehicular terminal’s function of each module will be realized by using VC++.
