With the developments of communication technology, the location based service is developing very fast. As a basic technology of the location based service, the wireless positioning technology has important research value. Thereinto, the demand of small scale wireless positioning is increasing day by day and it has wide prospect of application.This paper made analysis of present situation and development trend of the positioning in small range at first and then made summary about the technologies and algorithms of the positioning in small range. After analyzing their advantages and disadvantages, the paper analyzed the positioning algorithms including Fang’s algorithm, Chan’s algorithm and Taylor series expansion algorithm. Then the paper made the simulation experiment about them. Based on this, it put forward the positioning scheme of using Chan-Taylor co-location algorithm. In addition, this paper put forward two methods of obtaining TDOA measurements, which are ’demodulation method’ and ’correlation inspection method’. It proved that the ’correlation inspection method’ is better in actual positioning through the simulation experiment.Finally, the paper made simulation of the whole wireless positioning system. From the simulation results by Matlab, it can be seen that the positioning system can realize high precision of small scale wireless positioning by using the Chan-Taylor co-location algorithm and the ’correlation inspection method’which is better than ’demodulation method’after combining removing positioning error values through the first-order difference method.
