The online game has become more and more popular in the electric game industry in recent years. Thus, the increasing number of game players and the potential ones pose a new challenge for the efficiency and stability of the game server.The thesis analyzed systematically the development of architecture of MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) server, thus proposed an improved architecture to raise the upper limit of the concurrent number of responses of the server and to shorten the request-answer time.The research contents of the thesis are as follows:Firstly, this thesis studied the architecture and relevant techniques of the popular MMORPG server deeply. A common vocabulary of domain abstractions was defined, and the key techniques of data communication and load balancing were analyzed.Secondly, the study improved the traditonal pattern of the architecture and database building of MMORPG on the base of the common hybrid cluster architecture, and designed a feasible and efficient concurrent architecture of MMOPRG to resolve the problem of heavy load of the database, thus raised the upper limit of concurrent number of responses of the server.Thirdly, the thesis analyzed the management strategy of the technique of load balancing, and adopted a simplied strategy in the designed architecture, to promote the server usage and avoid increasing pressure to the server, and achieved the goal of balancing load of the server clustering finally.Lastly, the thesis realized an executable application system with the above server architecture pattern and strategy of load balancing, which was verified by testing.
