"The Active Text"——the Media Expression And Event Evolution In The Era Of Network

In the era of traditional media, the media text usually means the news text, which is the report on the newspaper, broadcast, and TV. The media organizations have the absolute authority of publishing the news text. The present form of the text is closed and static. But in the era of network, The connotation of the media text is greatly expand, though the report is an important part of it, but in the era that everyone is a media, the internet users’ opinion expression, mutual discussion even the whisper may become the media text that concerned. The present form of the text is open and dynamic.Nowadays, news which spread in cyberspace may become hot issues and attract the attention of many users, they always discuss them in the network space such as BBS and twitter. At the same time, online speech will become a driving force of the development of the events, promoting the evolving of news events."The active text" that proposed in this paper it is based on the social reality that network can promote the evolving of news events, and this paper wants to summarize the new features of the news spread in the era of network with a fresh perspective."The active text" means the evolving and dynamic development of media text’s liquidity of rendering, can be seen as "a full length drama" in the era of network. Compared with the corresponding concept "the freezing text" is enclosed report or periodic report on the traditional media,"the freezing text" is a "fragile product".Roland Barthes has proposed the text deconstruction theory, he use "The death of author" overturns the dominance of "author", thoroughly deconstructed the text world that centered on the "author". Liberating the "readers" and "text", and creating the possibility that the "reader" and "text" to get their subject status, also create conditions for the birth of the new "author". In the present, maybe it isn’t hard for us to find that the traditional media which is represented by the reporter is facing the fate of the "death", while internet users as a representative of readers in the Internet age has become "born" in China’s network transmission.The four cases selected in this paper, their media texts have very obvious dynamic process and their writing styles present different characteristics. The "Peng Yu case" in2006led to a series of similar events subsequently, and all these events have been labeled the "Peng Yu case", thus intensified this situation. The "Yao Jiaxin incident" in2010, initially denounced the wrath of the killer, but after the death penalty of Yao Jiaxin, the reflection of public opinion and rational discussion are launched in the cyberspace. Because of the impact of the poisoning event happened in Fudan university, the "Zhu Lin case" came back to the public view in2013. There was only one official response, but with the existing material, internet users act as the "national detective" role to create new text constantly. Another situation manifested in the "Dongguan anti-vice event", and this can be seen as the dominated topic from the official discourse, but the civil discourse which is dominated by blog seized the initiative and continued to rewrite the official discourse.From the perspective of "the active text", mainly through the studies of the four cases, this paper reveals the general pattern of evolution of news events promoted by network discourse. This paper used the "process-event" analysis method, in view of the deeply concerned public news events, going deeply into the events’evolution process, and trying to restore the news development as a whole. At the same time, in accordance with the process of the discourse in the cyberspace, and consider the relationship between the media expression and the event evolution. On this basis, further thinking about these problems:Who is the author of the text? What characteristics can we see from the text authors in these four different evolution patterns respectively? How their writing plays a role and what is the flaw and the insufficiency? I hope this paper can make a certain reference significance to our research of network public opinion and network event study.
