Currently, the image visualization of the medical field is mainly achieved by observing the slices of MRI or CT images, which is largely dependent on the subjective judgment of the doctor with the lack of accuracy and intuition. With the rapid development of modern medical imaging technology, the three-dimensional reconstruction technology of two-dimensional slices has been proposed to the agenda of study. It aims to present the implied information in the medical image in the form of three-dimensional images, which is of great significance to the clinical diagnosis and treatment of diseases.By taking the study project of virtual-reality laboratory in Germany Reutlingen University as the background, this paper is based on the theoretical basis and practical needs of three-dimensional visualization of medical images, combing human-computer interactive technology and conducting overall design for the visualized interactive system of the medical field, thus realizing the system development on the basis of VTK.In the selection of three-dimensional image reconstruction algorithm, this paper focuses on the study of Marching Cubes algorithm of three-dimensional surface rendering and Ray-Casting algorithm of three-dimensional volume rendering, and compares the rendering effect of the two. From the comparative results, it can be seen that the rendering definition of the three-dimension volume is higher but with slower drawing speed, while the rendering speed of the surface is faster but with poorer image recovery rate. According to the characteristics of high quality requirements, multiple interactive manipulation and strong timeliness for the images in the medical field, this paper carries out both the volume rendering and surface rendering algorithms with the proposal of method of mixed rendering to combine the advantages of three-dimensional rendering and surface rendering, so as to improve the efficiency and accuracy of image processing.As for the realization of the system interactivity, TUIO multi-point touching technology is adopted to identify the interactive request of users. Through the monitoring of the user’s gestures and movements by TCP port, timely feedback can be provided to complete the interaction between the system and the user. Dynamic three-dimensional display technology is applied to realize the three-dimensional conversion of the medical images, including image scaling, rotation and translation.Finally, based on the analysis of the system demands and the development platform, the paper designs and realizes the visualized interactive medical system. By using visualization development tool of VTK, it conducts three-dimensional volume rendering and three-dimensional surface rendering of the medical images based on DICOM format, and implements the operation and test on the computer, so as to ensure the reliability and stability of the system.
