Design And Implementation Of The Android-based Fall Alarm System

As elder people living alone is rapidly increasing nowadays,it is important to prevent them from falling which is mortal to them. So an effective fall detection device which could alarm automatically is highly valued.But the existing fall detction device now are maily dependent on the alarm button, which is quite impossible for a falling old man to press.As in2008,Google launched an Android open-source smartphone operating system, this paper is maily about an new system based on it whchi could highly improve the detection accuracy.The objects of this thesis are:Android system’s structure, drive, and Location Based Services (LBS) related technology. And on the base of system requirements analysis, whichincludes function, safety and performance requirement analysis, this study specifically designs a fall detection alarm system which could locate the elders’address accurately and alarm quickly for help. The major work of this study is as follows:1. A useful fall defection alarm system is designed in the study, by collecting a great number of systems existing to avoid their shortages.2. Designed a pattern with the effective Model View Controller (MVC) mode, which separate the function by data model, service control and display interface.3. The function of the system based on Android platform including location of GPS, automatically fall detection and alarm, attributes setting, interactive features, automatically sendingtext messages or calling, and exception handling functions.4. After testing, the fall detection device is provedan effective, accurate and convenient application.In conclusion, after a comprehensive research on Android system, an Android-based fall detection alarm system is designed in this study. It’s a useful and effective application, and the result if of great value for further Android system development.
